Seminar
Not much blogging lately as I've been neck deep in client projects. Several months ago I committed to teaching a session at an Internet marketing strategy seminar scheduled for February 23, so that's where I spent yesterday. Long story short, program changes caused me to can my presentation and create a new one at the 11th hour. Not what I would have liked but what can you do?
The seminar kicked off with a panel discussion that included search experts Chris Boggs of Avenue A/Razorfish and Craig Kronenberger of iCrossing, technology and Internet lawyer Karl Kronenberger, marketing consultant (and longtime Triad-now-Florida tech entrepreneur) Doug Brisotti, and me. Ron Jones of Symetri moderated. Many of the themes were from a Thursday night dinner discussion where we talked about a range of mostly search-focused issues.
Three takeaways from the seminar sessions and one-on-one conversations:
- If you aren't focused on search as a core part of your Internet marketing, you're missing the boat. I've made the case for findability before, but the seminar audience was treated to a solid case for making search a high marketing priority.
- The future of search - personalized, localized, specialized.
- "Traditional marketing" no longer means print and broadcast. The Internet, integrated with other channels, is a standard part of the marketing mix.
